MERU: Novo ciclo de música do mundo

19/04/2022

MERU is coming to PicoZen to celebrate the beginning of a new cycle and bring some new presentations on stage.

History of MERU

2013

Born from a trio of friends based around Carolina Pizarro on the Sitar, joined by Pedro de Faro on the Portuguese Guitar and Carlos "Kabeção" Rodrigues on the Handpan, the project took its first steps.

2014

Rui Aires joined the project (replacing Kabeção, who embarked on his journey to become one of the world's best handpan musicians), and the trio began a cycle of new creations and some concerts.

2017

Sara Rica joins in on percussion, and the now quartet of two women and two men finally finds its soul, mission, and identity. They record the first EP with 6 tracks and start a new cycle of concerts around the country.

2019

With new sung tracks, they perform 10 concerts in Portugal (including one in the Azores in Santa Maria).

2022

The group is now in a renaissance and has welcomed the 5th element, multi-instrumentalist João Sousa, who will be officially introduced live at the PicoZen 2022 performance.
